This past weekend we were so proud of our junior dragster graduates and driver development students who were just as big of stars as the pros as they made two separate 4-wide exhibition passes in front of thousands of fans on Saturday and Sunday. Our Roy Hill Racing Team was in overdrive as we had our hands full with so many different activities: Roy Hill himself raced his Super Stock Cobra Jet at the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals. We also provided multiple ride alongs to the Speedway Children’s Charity to be auctioned off to raise money and support for a great cause with highest bidders winning a heart pumping adrenaline rush of speed in our 2-seater dragster.
But one of the biggest highlights for our team was turning the attention on a few exceptional junior dragster racers we invited to participate in a weekend long meet and greet with fans, friends and even professional racers who were their very own idols. Such famed pro racers as Leah Pritchett, Erica Enders Stevens, Jack Beckman, and Robert Hight all showed an immense amount of support for or young racers, even staging them in the lanes.
“These juniors are the future of drag racing. Making these runs in front of thousands of fans at one of the most renowned tracks in the country will hopefully prepare them for what’s to come in their future.” -Roy Hill
Jackson Summers, Cameron Gibson, Kaylee Love, and Bailie Zepp all completed the Roy Hill Drag Racing Junior Dragster School and program earning them their NHRA licenses and setting an even more solid foundation for their future in racing; teaching them everything from proper safety, staging, mental focus all the way to properly marketing themselves to possible sponsors and partners as a well rounded, young racing professional.
Be sure to call and reserve a spot for your juniors for our upcoming July 11-13 Junior Dragster Summer Camp program to be held at Piedmont Dragway (for all skill levels: beginners, intermediate, and advanced) in preparation for Bristol’s Eastern Conference Finals! (336) 498-7964
